Thank you for your interest in the BBH Foundation Youth Advisory Board (YAB)! The YAB is a unique service-learning program that puts West Michigan youth at the center of running a non-profit organization. Selected student leaders serve as ambassadors for the organization and engage in projects to advance the goals and mission of BBH. For example, a previous year's board saw a need to better connect donors and community members to the BBH cause, so they created a new marketing video featuring a child with a GoPro strapped to a bear to show A Day in the Life of a Billy Bear. In turn, YAB members gain access to unique professional development opportunities, including resume workshops and meetings with CEOs, medical professionals & nonprofit leaders.

The application is open to current 9th through 11th grade high school students in the West Michigan area. Applications are being accepted until 12:00 AM on Saturday, April 28th. Select candidates will be invited to participate in a 30-minute phone interview between April 30 & May 14.

Please note that this is a competitive process and we usually receive more applications than spots available in the program. Please answer the questions below to the best of your ability and in as much detail as possible so that we can get to know you better. This is your chance to shine! We are looking for passionate, energetic and motivated students who will have a meaningful impact on the YAB program, the BBH organization, and the children and families we serve.

  • April 30th - May 14th: Phone Interviews for Select Candidates 
  • May 21: 2018-2019 Youth Advisory Board announced 
  • Saturday, June 9th: First meeting of the 2018-2019 Youth Advisory Board 
  • Monday, August 6th: 7th Annual William B. Wondergem Memorial Golf Outing
  • Third Sunday of Every Month (4:00 PM -5:30 PM): Monthly General Meetings
